HEAVY BASS CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD VOL. II OUT NOW

Heavy Bass Champions of the World Vol II” is T&B’s second installment of the already popular Heavy Bass Champions Series. For this one, we reach overseas to London and get the new crew on the block; The Boogaloo Crew, to whip up some dancefloor anthems, this time touching on dubstep.

We’re bringing you two original tracks that have been in heavy rotation throughout the whole T&B Crew’s DJ sets. Days Go By takes a familiar sample and gives it the dubstep treatment. Expect head rockin, body shockin bass lines blowing down your speakers tot his track! Calling All Dancers couldn’t be more straight forward, for this one taking another classic sample and putting in the blender along with some warped and bugged out basslines similar to those of Stagga, Jakes, Cottie and Caspa.

This is Boogaloo Crew’s premeire release! Look out for much more from this duo in 2010!

T&B INTERVIEW: DROP THE LIME

FIENDS FOREVER

Last Tuesday brought us the big release of Drop the Lime’s “Devils Eyes,” with remixes from Classixx, Tomb Crew, Diplo, and a coven of other rad artists from the worlds of dubstep, future house, and heavy bass. We caught our own Lucifer Venezia right before he flew off to the studio and asked him about swimming in the fog and dancing into the fire.

Tell us about your favorite sunrise of the last year.
Miami Winter Music Conference 2009, sipping on the last of a perfect caipirinha.

Who is your favorite movie villain?
Jack Nicholson as The Joker.

What is your favorite hour of the night (or morning)?
1 a.m. When magic comes to fruition in the studio and in the club.

Name two things you think are really scary.
Centipedes and nuns.

Would you rather die in a lake of fire, a glacier of ice, or be buried alive?
Lake of fire. Burn with a fury.

Where were you and what were you doing when you wrote the lyrics to “Devils Eyes”?
They evolved over time… It started as a freestyle I’d sing over my remix of Drums of Death’s “Breathe.” The final lyrics came to exist when I sang them on our T&B Scion tour in Miami. Sweaty apocalypse vibes, strobes were hypnotizing the crowd, and I was lost within the moment with the rest of T&B crew.

In 10 years when you hear “Devils Eyes,” what memory will come to mind?
Swimming in the fog and lights of that Miami night.

"Devils Eyes" has an unprecedented number of remixes: 11 total. Why so many?
So many people asked to remix it… A lot of Youtube videos spread the song because I've been singing it live for almost a year before its release. If we released them all it'd be almost 30. As a label, we had to narrow it down to the strongest ones, and I love every single version we’ve got.

Which remix is the most angelic and which remix is the most demonic on this pack?
Angelic is definitely a toss up between Lauren Flax and Mikey Millions—they both have such beautiful pad and synth arrangements. The most demonic is, hands down, Deathface. He mutates the hell out of the vocals and grinds the bass like a bastard villain.

Trouble & Bass fans will be familiar with artists like Diplo, Kanji Kinetic, and Supra1, but give us one sentence or so about some of these other artists people might not know…

Michael Meds: Michael Meds is making some very fresh big-room-style house, keeping the energy raw with strings or sub bass… Really into his remix of Chuckie’s "Let the Bass Kick”, so I was excited to have him take on the devil’s eyes.

Dances With White Girls: Dances released with Throne of Blood, bringing a proper acid/ghetto house vibe to the tech house of today… A heavy NYC MC and producer.

Rossi B & Luca: Rossi B & Luca are staples in the UK grime and 2-step scene… legends even. I was buying their early mixes and tracks before dubstep was even a genre. Really happy they came on board for this single.

Mikey Millions: Mikey moonlights as an engineer and producer for one of the best hip-hop producers in the world (but I can’t tell you which one). He’s also family with our buddies Overthrow in Miami, and that’s how we got connected.

Who or what is Zonders?
Frankfurt-based Zonders are some of the best graphic artists around at the moment. They have taken on all branding for DTL, done all my recent record covers (including “Devils Eyes”), my logo, and will be doing my album artwork. They’re doing some amazing animated graphics as well as design now...

"Devils Eyes" is supposed to appear on your forthcoming album. Give us a few juicy morsels about what we can expect from the album.
I’ve been incorporating my rockabilly and Ennio Morricone Western influences into the album. The vibe is very attached to the night, which I am always pretty influenced by: the mystery of the dark, and the allure of the dark. It’s not an album of bangers, though—expect actual songs. These songs have been through years of transformation, but the album is officially slated for an October release finally.
