ARTIST Q&A : HEALEY MADE

For our 5 Year Anniversary, we held an art show celebrating our anniversary as well as showcasing some of our favorite artists and friends. The same day, we had our 5 Year Anniversary party and the next day I left for 2 and half weeks on tour. So looking back I felt like the artists and art for our Anniversary show went a little overlooked and didn't get the attention it deserved. So we'll be doing some Q&A's with each of the artists we collaborated with and giving you a little more info about their art and what they made especially for Trouble & Bass!

Let me introduce you to Healey Made a.k.a. David Healey.
and grab his pieces for the T&B 5 Year Ann art show HERE (in black) and HERE (in purple)

How/When did you first get involved with Trouble & Bass?
I found out about T&B through Mishka. I was walking out of a meeting and they were walking in. Then Lamour Supreme told me that they were real vampires which interested me because so am I...

What's the story behind your work for the art show?
My piece in the show came about by merging Dracula and Howard the Duck. If Count Duckula was a live action sit-com. Or the love child of Edward Cullin and Daphnie Duck.

Tell us about the process of your piece.
Process wise if was a mash-up in a minimal slick kind of way.

Do you have any inspiration for your own work/or this piece?
My work is influenced by the symbolism involved in creating character. For as many characters as there are, they're are even more possibilities when you start combining them.

What are some of your favorite T&B releases?
In terms of T&B stuff I love the mix/mash stuff the most and I'm kinda partial to Star Eyes right now.

What T&B artist(s) do you most relate with?
In terms of relating to a T&Ber....It would have to be AC Slater. We both have names that are characters in sit-coms. We both wear caps too.

Where do you draw inspiration from?
I get inspiration by staring at things and people. Gets me in trouble sometimes.

What projects do you have coming up?
I've got a bunch of new pieces I'm working on and some collabs too. No rhyme or reason to them other then being Healeymade.

What's your favorite project you've worked on?
I really liked the Grhoul fig that was done with Greg Mishka and Lamour Supreme. Ideas are better when bounced around for a while.

Do you prefer/how often do you work on projects that are music related?
I do enjoy music related projects. Music is the art that I most into as an audience member. Always listening to something.

What's your work/thought process like?
My process is just thinking about things that I come across. Nothing is a coincidence for me. If something comes into my life I try to put my spin on it and then release it back into the world.
