THE CAPTAIN'S TOP 10 VHS FINDS IN 2011

I'm obsessive about collecting VHS tapes, this past year I kinda went over board with basically hoarding VHS tapes anywhere I could find them through out all my tours and trips. I raked in a trunkful of VHS tapes after going on a few trips around Thanksgiving and Christmas this year,  so while it's fresh on my brain, here's a list of some of my favorite finds for the year in alphabetical order.

And keep up with me on my Tumblr cause I'm always posting VHS stuff on there or my instagram: TheCaptain666

Blackout
I bought this solely for it's wild cover and amazing design work. Gimp! I found this one at a flea market in Ohio right off the highway, kinda on accident. We walked into the flea market and the guy had racks and racks of VHS for sale, I thought I was in heaven.

Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across The 8th Dimension
This movie was one of my earliest movie memories, next to Explorers. Growing up, I would remember flashes of the last scene of the movie where they're chasing John Lithgow through a crazy warehouse and kept finding ooze everywhere. In my brain it was much darker like in Alien, but in the movie it was kinda tame after re-watching it. But, movie is still amazing filled with a rockabilly crime fighting space traveling team.

The Graveyard
I found this one at The Meadowlands flea market outside of Giant Stadium, and was another one I bought solely for it's awesome cover and my attraction to old 80's horror.

Mausoleum
I found this one last month during Christmas vacation somewhere in Massachusetts. I've had the image of this cover saved to my computer for a long time and seeing it in person, I was pretty stoked to finally come across it on accident! So epic!

Popcorn
I think I also found this one in Ohio, I remember seeing this cover when I was young in the 90's and it really stuck with me and freaked me the fuck out. Now I can look at it all the time.

R.O.T.O.R.
A big Mad Max / Robocop rip off, but another 80's gem and long time cover favorite I finally found in person.

Shockwaves
Another one that I found at the Meadlowlands flea market, the cover for this one is bonkkkkerrrss!

Snoop Dogg Doggystyle
My man Dirty South Joe hooked me up with 3 boxes of VHS tapes this past fall and this was one of the gems in there. I remember when this came out was a huge controversy and then lead to a lot more gangster rappers hosting various porn films. I still have yet to watch it, and I think this is a bootleg version.

The Gate
I asked my friend about this movie. "It's just two kids who find a gate to hell and all sorts of crazy shit happens. Little creepers come up through at first, but then it gets more crazy. I rewatched it not too long ago, still scary. They play a record backwards, that's how i starts."

The Maxx
if you were born in the 80's, then you're probably familiar with Liquid Television and Oddities on MTV in the 90's and this is one of the cartoons on MTV around that time that really stood out to me and I thought was the coolest thing ever. Coincidentally I was searching for the toy, and then I found it in Ohio and then a month later found the VHS in Massachusetts on accident. It was meant to be.
